1.5 degree celsius target

The 1.5-degree Celsius target from the Paris Agreement serves as a crucial threshold to limit global warming and minimize severe climate impacts. Set in 2015, it represents a global commitment to keep the average temperature rise since pre-industrial levels below 1.5°C. While the world has already warmed by about 1.1°C, the difference of an additional 0.4°C could lead to more frequent and intense weather events, such as hurricanes, droughts, and floods, as well as accelerated sea-level rise.

If we exceed the 1.5-degree target, we risk reaching tipping points that could lead to irreversible damage to ecosystems and human societies. Achieving this target requires collective action from political leaders, businesses, and individuals worldwide to implement policies that accelerate our shift toward renewable energy, sustainable practices, and emission reductions.
