CO2 Emissions: A Historical View
CO2 emissions have significantly evolved since the 1850s. Early industrial leaders, such as England, were major initial contributors π¬π§. Today, countries like China and the US are among the largest emitters πΊπΈπ¨π³.
Historical data over the past 200 years shows that cumulative emissions from Western countries far exceed those from the Global South which demonstrate that the Global North should take ownership for its actions.
The current landscape is complex. China is now the leading emitter, followed by the US and India. With China being one of the largest exporters, one may wonder who needs to bear the responsibility for these emissions?
