Re-think! The Spatial Planning of Jakarta

Recently, parks became interesting space for people to do many activities such as sport, recreation, and also social interactions. Parks in Indonesia began to grow, with improvement of features and facilities, public parks garner an increasing number of visitors, as exemplified in the cities of Jakarta and Surabaya. The existence of parks can also be an icon of a city. Prof. Johan Silas, one of Indonesia’s ‘guru’ in architecture and urban development, gave his thoughts on urban and settlement planning. He cited the example of KIP as one of the most successful improvement program in Surabaya. On this occasion, PSII conducted a short interview with Prof. Johan Silas about the existence of parks in Indonesia.
