Safe access for urban mobility: community-led approaches

This policy brief outlines recommendations for the integration of effective community engagement to build support for interventions to address safe access for urban mobility. This brief is based on the findings and learnings during implementation of the Asian Development Bank project on Improving Transport Services in Ger Areas, which aimed to demonstrate systemwide interventions that improve the accessibility, safety, security, and quality of transport services. The project utilized community-led approaches throughout its duration and provides a strong suite of findings and outcomes that
inform the recommendations held within this brief. This brief also draws upon a growing body of literature and evidence that shows the strong positive outcomes of effective community engagement to support coordinated, systemwide interventions in transport and mobility projects. As a result, the recommendations within this brief are designed to be applicable for urban transport and mobility projects in all jurisdictions.
