Sustainable Behavior
The articles featured in this issue of Sustain originated from two conferences on behavioral change and sustainability in 2012. The first conference, titled the “Behavior Change for a Sustainable World Conference,” took place from August 3-5, 2012, at The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio. Organized by the Association for Behavior Analysis International® (ABAI), this conference focused on exploring how fundamental principles of behavior change could contribute to environmental preservation. The second conference was the 6th annual “Behavior, Energy & Climate Change Conference,” co-sponsored by the Precourt Energy Efficiency Center at Stanford University, the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy, and the California Institute for Energy and Environment at the University of California. The BECC conference, which attracted 700 attendees in 2012, concentrates on understanding individual and organizational behavior and decision-making concerning energy usage, greenhouse gas emissions, climate change, and sustainability. The 2012 conference took place in Sacramento, California, from November 12-14. The subsequent year’s conference was scheduled for November 18-20, 2013, also in Sacramento.
